# Question Pools

A question pool is a named group of related questions with a **select count** — the number of questions the assessment draws from the pool. Each student receives a different random selection, so no two students see exactly the same set.

For example, a pool of 20 equivalent questions with a select count of 5 means every student gets 5 of the 20, chosen at random.

## Why use a pool

* **Academic integrity** — students get different questions, so sharing or copying answers is far less useful. This complements [dynamic questions](/v1/examind-platform/build/question-builder/dynamic-questions.md), which vary each question; pools vary *which* questions a student sees.
* **Reusable question banks** — maintain a large set of equivalent questions and sample from it across attempts, sections, or terms.

## Setting up a question pool

The self-serve interface for building pools is limited, so **EXAMIND's Customer Success team sets up question pools for you.** Tell us which questions to pool and how many to draw, and we'll configure it for your assessment.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://examind.gitbook.io/v1/examind-platform/build/question-bank/question-pools.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
